Ingredients

  • unsalted butter 80g (6 tablespoons)
  • all purpose flour 80g (1/3 cups)
  • milk 860g (800mL (3 1/3 cups))
  • salt to taste
  • nutmeg to taste

Tools

  • stove top
  • pot
  • whisk
  • wooden spoon

Steps

  • melt butter in pot
  • mix in flour till paste
  • slowly whisk in milk adding more milk once added mass is creamy
  • should coat back off spoon when cooked enough

Storage

  • cover with parchment paper or saran wrap when storing to prevent drying out
  • can be stored in fridge for 3 days
  • can be stored in freezer for 1 month, thaw overnight in fridge before using
