## Ingredients

- [ ] mustard oil [^1]

- [ ] mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
|
|
- [ ] cumin seeds 2 teaspoon
|

- [ ] onion 1
|
|
- [ ] garlic 6 clove
|
|
- [ ] ginger
|
|
- [ ] tomato paste 2 tablespoon
|
|
- [ ] chili pepper 2 teaspoon
|
|
- [ ] turmeric 1 teaspoon
|
|
- [ ] mung beans 300g (dry)
|
|
- [ ] water to soak mung beans (enough to cover them)
|
|
- [ ] water 500g + 100g
|
|
## Tools
|
|
- pot with lid
|
|
- knife
|
|
- cutting board
|
|
## Steps
|
|
- soak mung beans for 3+ hours
|
|
- dice onion
|
|
- peal and dice garlic and ginger
|
|
- heat 500g of water in a covered pot
|
|
- heat oil in pot
|
|
- add mustard seeds to heated oil
|
|
- when mustard seeds begin to splutter add cumin seeds, garlic, and ginger
|
|
- cook for ~30 seconds
|
|
- add onion to pot and cook 3 minutes until softened
|
|
- stir in tomato paste, chili pepper, and turmeric
|
|
- add soaked mung beans and water
|
|
- cover and cook on low heat (induction plate 4, stovetop 2)
|
|
- add additional 100g water after 20 minutes if needed
|
|
- continue cooking until beans are tender
|
|
- salt to taste
|
|
- serve
|
