Ingredients

  • 2-4 potatoes
  • canola oil

Tools

  • peeler serrated
  • food processor
  • bowl
  • strainer
  • pan

Steps

  • wash potatoes
  • peal potatoes
  • shred potatoes with the food processor
  • wash shredded potatoes several times to remove starch
  • strain the shredded potatoes
  • set up plate with towel to absorb more water
  • take a handful of the shredded potatoes and squeeze to get water out before transferring to plate
  • pat sheds dry
  • pour a small amount of oil into the pan and wipe it over the entire surface
  • add more oil to form a layer ~1-2 cm deep
  • preheat greased pan
  • once oil just reaches smoke point reduce heat to medium high
  • spread shredded potatoes evenly over the bottom of the pan
  • let potatoes fry, pulling up the edges until they begin to brown (4-5 mins)
  • flip all of the potatoes to the other side
  • let fry until the other side is golden brown (3-4 minutes)
  • place potatoes onto a plate with a paper towel to absorb grease
  • serve
