--- title: Béchamel --- ## Ingredients - [ ] unsalted butter 80g (6 tablespoons) - [ ] all purpose flour 80g (1/3 cups) - [ ] milk 860g (800mL (3 1/3 cups)) - [ ] salt to taste - [ ] nutmeg to taste ## Tools - stove top - pot - whisk - wooden spoon ## Steps - melt butter in pot - mix in flour till paste - slowly whisk in milk adding more milk once added mass is creamy - should coat back off spoon when cooked enough ## Storage - cover with parchment paper or saran wrap when storing to prevent drying out - can be stored in fridge for 3 days - can be stored in freezer for 1 month, thaw overnight in fridge before using #recipe/ingredient #diet/vegetarian
