--- title: Hash browns draft: true --- ## Ingredients - [ ] 2-4 potatoes - [ ] canola oil ## Tools - peeler serrated - food processor - bowl - strainer - pan ## Steps - wash potatoes - peal potatoes - shred potatoes with the food processor - wash shredded potatoes several times to remove starch - strain the shredded potatoes - set up plate with towel to absorb more water - take a handful of the shredded potatoes and squeeze to get water out before transferring to plate - pat sheds dry - pour a small amount of oil into the pan and wipe it over the entire surface - add more oil to form a layer ~1-2 cm deep - preheat greased pan - once oil just reaches smoke point reduce heat to medium high - spread shredded potatoes evenly over the bottom of the pan - let potatoes fry, pulling up the edges until they begin to brown (4-5 mins) - flip all of the potatoes to the other side - let fry until the other side is golden brown (3-4 minutes) - place potatoes onto a plate with a paper towel to absorb grease - serve #recipe/breakfast #diet/plant_based #diet/vegetarian
